zero2sixty - "...it doesn't matter, man, as long as it ROCKS!"

Cam McLain
Guitar, Vocals, Harmonica

Cam was raised in a family that always enjoyed music. Mom was a piano major (and a beauty queen) at Oklahoma City University and sang in the church choir for years. She still plays the piano. Dad played the trumpet in a big band in high school touring the local dance halls. WWII interrupted his music career when he enlisted in the Navy at 18 years old. He is still playing the trumpet in his 80’s; he says it’s good for his brain. Cam’s younger brother plays guitar and Cam and his older brother were put in piano lessons where they got in trouble for “playing by ear” and not reading the music. This came in handy when Cam taught himself guitar when he was a senior in college. Now as he is still learning new stuff, this skill continues to show its value. Cam grew up listening to the great music of the late 60’s and 70’s, which influenced his musical style. He played for fun or with friends for many years and also learned to play the harmonica. He was invited to play at church (still playing every Sunday), which led to playing in a larger Christian band twice a year where he met some great people and musicians.  Four of them now play with zero2sixty.

Cam has been married 27 years and his daughter, 18, took piano and now wants to learn guitar, but her big passion is her show horses. His son, 21, played guitar in his high school and college jazz bands. He attends college in Colorado on a track scholarship – he’s a two-time NCAA All American and a National Champion in track so Cam can’t come close to running with him, but they do enjoy jamming together when they can.

Cam thanks God for what He has given him. He would also like to thank his wife for supporting his musical efforts, in raising a family, and everything else over the years - and especially for feeding the band many times at practice –Margaret, you’re awesome!   (A notion seconded by the entire band!!)
